Bronx House is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to ensure a safe and engaging pool environment for our community. This role combines lifeguarding responsibilities with teaching swim lessons for individuals and groups of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor pool and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all swimmers.
- Enforce pool rules and respond promptly to unsafe behavior or emergencies.
- Perform water rescues and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe pool environment, including checking equipment and water quality.
- Complete incident reports and communicate safety concerns to management.
- Teach swim lessons to individuals and groups of various ages and skill levels.
- Demonstrate proper swimming techniques and correct student errors constructively.
- Track student progress and communicate updates to parents or guardians.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with pool setup, maintenance, and closing procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Promote a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all pool patrons.
Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and professionalism.
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills.
- Comfortable interacting with children, adults, and seniors.
- Certified or experienced Swim Instructor (WSI preferred).
- Certified Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard required.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Must meet minimum age requirement for state lifeguard certification
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Perform light cleaning as needed.
- Well-groomed and presentable.
