PKA Floater Teacher 
Bronx House proudly offers a Pre-k For All program in conjunction with the NYC Department of Education.  Our PKA program offers a warm, nurturing, stimulating atmosphere where children can expand their skill set  and discover the joys of learning in a classroom setting.  
Hours: Monday-Friday 11am-2pm- 10-month position 
Position: Full Time 
Education Requirements: High School Degree and 2 years of experience working with young children in an  early childhood classroom setting.  
Salary: $17.00 
Candidate must be approved by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene 
The Floater assists the Head Teacher and Assistant Teacher in the PKA classroom with the distribution of  students’ meals. Additionally, the Floater supports either the Head or Assistant Teacher during the teachers’  lunch hours. The Floater works with the students to create and foster a warm, nurturing, and stimulating  environment through enriching conversation and instruction. The Floater is to join classes on walks as needed  to offer added support safety and supervision requirements from DOE and DOH policies and procedures. The  opportunity is also available for Floaters to attend staff/team meetings which may aid in sharing and developing  skills in student learning and classroom organization. 
Required Core Competencies: 
● Basic knowledge of child development including typical and atypical language, cognitive, motor, social,  and self-help skills development. 
● Nurturing character that enables the building of a respectful, trusting and loving relationship with  children and their families. 
Preferred Core Competencies: 
● Basic knowledge of best practices as it relates to food handling and distribution to young children.  ● An ability to work with a diverse group of teachers and acclimate to the variety of classrooms that will  require assistance.  
● Experience working with groups and/or families from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic  backgrounds. Must have knowledge of and sensitivity to the educational and socio-economic needs of  the children and families served in PKA.
